The objective of this project was to perform a site investigation (SI) at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Lake Hood Storage yard. SI field activities include field screening and collecting analytical samples in areas of suspected petroleum, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and possibly metals contamination. Additionally, debris was removed from the site in order for the potential contamination at the site to be assessed.
Field screening was conducted utilizing a photo-ionization detector (PID). Surface soil samples were collected utilizing a statistically defensible sampling approach. Subsurface soil samples were collected using continuous DT45 MacroCore® samplers.
